Conceived as a continuous architecture fixture nested within an existing Brownstone. The design appropriates the narrow site condition into a single spine, bundling program to create overlap and variation within the open plan. By separating the living functions into a series of zones, different levels of living density and privacy are achieved. The kitchen and dining zone raise up to create better visibility while allowing variation in the ceiling height for better acoustics and lighting conditions. At the same time the living zone is lowered to create a more intimate area. The continuity of the living rail allows for a range of domestic activities to co-mingle in order to meet the clients desires for a socially conducive and open entertaining space.
